Sammy turns 1

Yep. It happened. Sammy turned one. I hate to be that parent that is constantly wondering where the time went, but it feels like no time ahas passed at all! Here's a picture recap of his birthday...

Nick repainted a rocking chair he had as a kid. It's got a block U and everything. We start them young in this family
Sammy opening some presents from Mom and Dad
I think he was just as excited to be on the couch as he was to get presents
His musical lady bug. This boy seriously loves music
Opening more presents at his party at Grandma's
I thought this was the cutest picture! They look so much alike
Sammy sharing his cake. Notice the blue frosting beard?
He was so funny, he kept dipping his fingers in and licking the frosting. He never actually smashed his smash cake.
He still managed to make quite a mess....

It was such a fun party and so nice to have family and friends there. Sammy is still enjoying his toys weeks later. We've been opening a few at a time. I'm pretty sure we'll be opening them until Christmas :)

Thank you to everyone who came!

Photo update

I've gotten so behind on blogging this summer I've decided, rather than try and write an update with everything we've been up to, I'll just post a photo update. I'm not sure many people read my blog anyway... maybe if I updated it more often? Something to think about...

Now for the pictures!

Getting his helmet off

Post-helmet. He was pretty excited.

He's officially reached that age. He's getting
into EVERYTHING.

Ragnar 2011

I realize it's a few weeks late, but I'm behind on my blogging. This year, Nick and I ran the Ragnar relay with his work. It. Was. Brutal. I think it was worth it and would do it again next year, but Nick has sworn he will never ever do it again.

I ran as runner 9 and Nick was runner 12 (which meant he ran the last leg and crossed the finish line). My only complaint is that our van was the van that ran over night... and no one told us that. Otherwise it was worth the sleep deprivation. I think that both of us didn't get more than 3 or 4 hours of sleep that night. And that was in a van while driving on dirt roads. Given the fact that I ran my 10 mile leg at 1:00 am and Nick was running his leg at 4:45 am, we were pretty loopy by the end. All in all, we all had a good time.

Nick before he ran his first leg. Notice how NOT grumpy he was. That changed pretty quick.

Me showing some team pride.

Adam sporting his awesome Snuggie. We were getting pretty tired by then.

Yep. The snow at the top of Guardsman's pass was taller than that girl.

We finished! Best feeling ever!

Mexico

Nick and I got to go to Mexico for 6 days last week. We went with my friend Danielle and her boyfriend Brad. They got a free rental house through his step mom and, since it was a two bedroom, they asked us if we wanted to come. So, after arranging for a baby sitter for the week (my awesome sister-in-law and my equally awesome mom) we decided to do it! It was an awesome trip, but maybe not as relaxing as it could have been. Here's the run down:
Day 1: Bribed the police
Day 2: Lost in the Yucatan on our way home from Chichen Itza
Day 3: Nick and Brad got the car stuck in a sand dune and had to be dug out by the military
Day 4: We went to Xel-Ha and I got to swim with the dolphins. Best day of the trip!
Day 5: Nick and Brad went snorkling. They went out so far and for so long Danielle and I seriously thought they had drowned. Worst day of the trip.
Day 6: The day we left. Other than the stomach bug Nick managed to pick up, this day wasn't very eventful.
Any of you who know my husband know that this is pretty fun-of-the-mill behavior for him. He sure loves his adventures! Anyway, here are some pictures for your enjoyment.

In other news, Sammy is days away from crawling! He's pulling himself across the room with his arms. I'm in trouble.....
My grandma is turning 70 this weekend and my cousing Jessica and her family are in town. It's been so fun having them here. And happy birthday Grandma! I got her an awesome gift! I'm pretty much the best granddaughter ever! :)
And the count down to Mexico has officially begun! I can't wait to hang out on the beach. I'm pretty sure Nick is looking forward to a vacation too.

Raspberries

Sammy has discovered the fine art of blowing raspberries!

It took me a second to get him going again. Of course, before I got the camera out he was doing them non stop. Silly boy! Enjoy!

Family Update

Well, It's hard to believe, but on Saturday Sammy turned 6 months old! I thought I'd go through and give an update/random facts about Sam to celebrate.
Update #1: We got a puppy! His name is Chester and he's the most fabulous dog on the planet. He was seriously meant to be a Baguley. Nick tells me every day how perfect he is (which is funny because it took some serious effort to talk him into a dog). Chester and Sam are the best of friends. If Sammy is in his room and crying (usually fighting a nap) Chester sits outside his room and guards his door until he calms down and goes to sleep. Sweetest. Puppy. Ever.
Update #2: Sammy is officially rockin' the helmet. I have to admit, it's pretty cute! It doesn't bother him at all either. We refer to it as his "ninja helmet." We're not sure how long he'll have it on yet. It all depends on how fast his head grows.
I just through this picture in because I love it. How can you not love that little boy?
In other news, Nick and I will be going to Cancun next month with my good friend Danielle and her boyfriend Brad. We're both so excited for an adult vacation!
Here are a few fun facts about Sam:
- He's almost crawling. He gets on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth. It's so funny!
- He's pretty much sitting up on his own, with a little assistance. Although, he get's really excited and knocks himself over. Also incredibly funny.
- He loves watching tv. If Nick and I are watching a movie, he'll just hang out in his jumper and watch it with us
- His favorite food is banana
- His favorite person to cuddle with is Grandma Cindy
- I think he's pretty convinced Grandpa Cliff is the funniest guy on the planet.
- And last but not least....
HE'S GROWING UP WAY TOO FAST!

5 Months

It's hard to believe that today my little man is five months old! He's getting so big and so much personality!

Here are a few things he's doing at five months:

- He's constantly rolling himself from his back to his tummy. He's been doing the "stink bug" and getting his legs under him and his butt in the air. Apparently he thinks he needs to crawl at five months. Silly guy!

- He cut his first tooth a few weeks ago (early I know!). It's so adorable when he smiles! It's his bottom right one. We think the left one is on it's way soon.

- We've been trying to get him to eat food, but he's being so STUBBORN! (Imagine that, my baby? Stubborn?) He likes to get the food in his mouth, leave it there for a bit, and then spit it out. He's so funny about it too. He hates the texture. Hopefully he'll catch on soon though

- He's still laid back and very good-natured. He loves to just hang out and his favorite thing in the world is making people laugh.

- He's still long and skinny. He's in the 93rd percentile for height and the 52nd percentile for weight.

- He still looks just like his daddy!

That's my little goose. I can't believe he's growing up so fast!

Happy 4 months Sammy!

Today my little guy is 4 months old! I can't believe it. It really is crazy how time flies. Everyone tells me that all the time and usually I just roll my eyes. But seriously, time does fly! Here are some fun new things Sammy has been doing:

- He loves to "talk" to you. His favorite sounds are "un-gah", "ah-goo", and this rasping gurgle noise. That one is pretty funny. He loves to make people laugh.

- About 2 weeks ago he started rolling from his back to his side. Over the weekend he rolled from his back all the way to his tummy! He does it all the time now. I used to be able to set him down and walk away. Now, when I come back he's frustrated because he rolled himself over and can't roll back. Silly boy!

- He's growing A TON! He's already in 6 month clothes. He's still a little string bean so they all drown him, but atleast they're long enough!

I know it's been a while some I'm going to add a few pictures from the last 2 months (mostly of Christmas). Enjoy!

Lots of presents for Sammy this year!

The boys on Christmas morning. We were all pretty tired.

Our stockings over the fireplace.

Sammy's Christmas bear outfit. It was the cutest thing!
